Junior embedded and production software engineer to Trimble

Om denna position

Are you a newly graduated engineer, ready to bridge the gap between high-level code and high-precision hardware? As a Graduate Trainee at Trimble Danderyd, you won't just be sitting behind a screen—you’ll be at the heart of where Trimbles world-leading total stations are designed, developed, and built.

About the position:

Trimble are currently building their next gen platform, and need engineers who want to master the entire technical ecosystem. This program is unique because you will develop software for two parallel worlds: the advanced instruments used by Trimbles customers, and the advanced production stations used in factory to calibrate those very instruments to nanometer precision. Over a one-year period, you will engage in rotations across various teams, specifically in Research & Development (R&D) and Operations (Manufacturing). Your work will encompass both embedded software (utilizing C++ and Python) for the instrument and .Net (C#) for the manufacturing applications.

Job description:

The program is designed to give you hands-on experience in several key areas of high tech R&D and Manufacturing.

  • Embedded Software (R&D): Dive into firmware development using C/C++ on their Linux platform, working with drivers and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). You’ll learn how we control high speed servos, process sensor data from high end cameras, distance-meters and tracking modules.
  • Advanced Production Engineering & Operations: Move to the "Ops" side to see how software and hardware is implemented on the factory floor. You will gain insights into calibration processes, manufacturing workflows, and how to ensure "Trimble Quality" in every unit.
  • System Test & Verification: Put Trimbles systems to the test! You’ll learn to write automated test scripts and validate that software performs flawlessly under the toughest field conditions.
  • Field Work & QA: Step out of the lab! You will work with the QA group in the field, testing instruments in real-world conditions to ensure they perform flawlessly in the toughest environments.
  • Production Internship: Experience the physical assembly process. You will participate in production rotation and walkthroughs with the Technology Development team to see how design choices impact manufacturability.
  • The Global Ecosystem: Collaborate with Trimble sites in New Zealand, Europe and the US. The program includes supplier or customer visits and dedicate time for research.

Ideal candidate:

We are looking for a curious, "hands-on" problem solver who wants to understand the "how" and "why" behind complex systems.

  • Newly graduated with a B.Sc. or M.Sc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Technical Passion: You have a solid foundation in C/C++, C# or Python and a genuine interest in embedded systems and hardware-near programming as well a curiosity for manufacturing workflows and production stations.
  • Mindset: You are equally comfortable at your desk writing code as you are in the lab or on the production floor troubleshooting hardware.
  • Communication: You are fluent in English. Swedish is a plus.

Employment:

This is a recruitment meaning you will be employed by Trimble where the first year will be in Trimbles Rotation Program.

Additional information:

  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Start date: August
  • Location: Danderyd – on site
