The Valtech Group is seeking to recruit and appoint a Senior Financial Controller/Deputy Finance Director for the Netherlands to act as a true business partner to the local management team and support strategic decision making.

Position Overview

As the Senior Financial Controller/Deputy Finance Director for Netherlands, you will report directly to the North West Europe Finance Director with a dotted line into the Managing Director for Netherlands. You will be a key member of the Netherlands Leadership Team which meets weekly. This position will involve providing financial insight and analysis to support decision-making and ensuring compliance with financial and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute proactively to the overall development of the Netherlands strategy and plan in partnership with the country MD
  • Facilitate debate of risks and opportunities, and horizon-scanning to ensure the business is equipped to deliver its objectives
  • Develop and help deliver initiatives that increase financial performance of Netherlands
  • Continuously improve and optimise current systems and processes operated by the business in line with global policies.

Business Partnering

  • Act as a true business partner to the Netherlands leadership team, providing advice and robust challenge to ensure close alignment of short-term targets / actions with wider strategic objectives
  • Continually monitor risks and opportunities to identify priorities and to maximise delivery
  • Provide high quality financial analysis to provide context and insight to decision makers across the business, building analytics capability as appropriate
  • Work with the FP&A team of the NWE sub region to leverage their skills and capabilities
  • Work with the NWE Finance Director to promote good finance and business practices across the business to support a lean and optimised financial process
  • Act as the point of escalation for any known issues and pain-points raised by the local teams

Forecasting and Reporting

  • Get involved in the preparation and analysis of all financial plans to ensure these are aligned to the business reality and ambitions
  • Establish Finance as a true partner; integrate Finance further into the business and provide real value through the provision of quality, timely and accurate information, highlighting issues and trends
  • Add substantial value to financial performance through developing and monitoring key performance indicators.

Finance Operations

  • Co-ordinate an efficient and effective transition of the operational finance teams under the new structure
  • Ensure accurate statutory reporting to the Dutch authorities as well as local compliance (tax, returns, payroll)

Requirements, skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Motivated to provide the highest standard of delivery
  • Ability to critically review and interpret information and recommend a course of action.
  • Work effectively within a team and with external parties on dynamic projects and be able to respond to changes quickly and effectively.
