About the job

Scania’s purpose is to drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system, by developing safe, smart and energy-efficient transport solutions that are better for people and the planet.

It is a bold and exciting journey with no finite end. Our innovative spirit and determination are what keep us going until we reach the science-based targets that Scania, as one of the pioneers of the industry, has proudly committed to.

Developing self-driving vehicles is highly dependent on vehicles that can really take on the challenge of driving in real-life scenarios. Scania Autonomous Systems are looking for our next System Engineer who can drive an active and structured process with systems- and functional development for some of the required functions. To succeed in this we embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. Our group are committed to build a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

Your future job
You will work closely together with your System Engineer colleagues, and also with stakeholders on different levels, for example:

  • visit customers to understand customer demands
  • plan and participate in the feature development of our product and to communicate with customers in the related functional areas.
  • be part of designing how the system will operate and create system descriptions together with the implementation teams
  • helping the management make decisions based on relevant input
  • assisting our development teams in delivering on time
  • spend some time in the vehicle to validate the behavior in customer like conditions on our test track and with customers.

It is also part of the mission to improve our way of working to higher standards and to decrease lead time of new features from concept to customer operations.

Who we think we are looking for
We are more interested in the questions you will ask, than what your answers to ours: we think you are a listener who is able to sort out relevant information and disseminate it within the organisation. We want our next System engineer to be a solution-oriented team player with ability to plan, drive, prioritize and cooperate with the development teams. We believe you are curious about new technology and about systems engineering - that you like to develop an understanding of the big picture and how the dots are connected, but also about which detailed issues need addressing.

You like the challenge of communicating complex information in a clear way, in written form but also as a presenter. We believe that you have a background in engineering. Ideally, you have experience from software intense systems, however it's not necessary to be a programmer to succeed in this position. It's meritorious with knowledge of agile system development, general knowledge of cyber security, system enginnering methods and tools. Professional English skills are required (Swedish and other languages are meritorious).

If you share our passion for safe, efficient and sustainable transport solutions, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t completely match our wish list above - we are more interested in where you are heading than what you’ve done so far, and the right person will be given the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed. Driving licence is, however, a requirement.

Our offer to you
By joining Scania Autonomous Systems, you will be part of developing cutting edge technology. You will also get:

  • Competent and friendly colleagues
  • A workplace with drive and a "can do"-attitude, that at the same time puts work life balance first
  • Great opportunities for personal development and great career opportunities
  • Possibilities for international assignments

We offer an interesting and challenging job where there is plenty of scope for new ideas. Our corporate culture is characterised by openness, diversity and respect for the individual. Employees are our most important resource, so we invest in training our employees and giving them the opportunity to broaden their skills enabling them to grow with us.

In addition to personal and professional development opportunities, benefits such as company car, mutual bonus, occupational pension, flexible working hours, lunch at reduced prices and much more. If you live in Stockholm, we offer a direct bus service between Stockholm and Södertälje, Scania Job Express.
