CFO to Amuse - Gazella

Role Description

Gazella is now recruiting a Chief Financial Officer to Amuse, a growing tech-enabled music company, involved in digital music distribution, artist services and music rights investments. The company is a scale-up with double-digit million USD in turnover and hundreds of thousands of customers, with the ambition to challenge the traditional music industry. This position requires a strategic thinker who can also dive into the details, leading activities such as strategic planning, music rights investments, broader corporate development, reporting and management accounting, financial accounting systems and processes. We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a relevant corporate track record to join the company.

Responsibilities

In the role as CFO, your main responsibilities will include:

• Lead strategic and financial planning efforts while collaborating with management and the Board to formulate and implement business goals.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to influence decision-making and drive business performance.
• Oversee the entire finance function, including human resources, systems, and processes.
• Serve as the point of contact for the Board of Directors and major shareholders, alongside the CEO.
• Collaborate proactively with all departments outside finance, both tactically and strategically.
• Lead all corporate development activities, such as M&A and fundraising.
• Support the company and our licensing team in evaluating all possible investment opportunities, including music rights investments.
• Ensure corporate governance and internal control.
• Manage the audit process and external bank contacts.
• Act as a major internal stakeholder over payments management and royalty processing.

Experience

We are seeking a candidate with over 10 years of experience in CFO or corporate development roles within scale-ups or growth companies, possibly backed by private equity or venture capital firms. Experience within the technology and media sectors is preferable, with a particular focus on the music industry being advantageous but not necessary. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modeling skills and hands-on experience with accounting systems and practices. Proven experience in fundraising, M&A or transactional activities is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple currencies and develop comprehensive financial strategies. Previous experience in engaging and presenting to investors and external stakeholders is also required.

Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, especially in English, both written and verbal. The CFO should be able to take a prominent role in investor relations and communications with the Board, acting as a key advisor to the CEO. An analytical and data-driven mindset is crucial, with a focus on leveraging data for decision-making. The candidate should be a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and lead a finance team of four, including two accounting professionals, an accounts payable/accounts receivable specialist, and a data engineer. The ability to work independently and make decisive decisions in a fast-paced, evolving environment is essential.
