Product AI Engineer to Modity

As Product AI Engineer, you will play a key role in building, developing and delivering Modity’s digital and AI-driven products—from early prototypes and MVPs to production-ready solutions and continuous product development. ABOUT THE ROLE

Modity operates in an energy industry undergoing rapid change, where AI, connected data, automation and evolving customer needs are creating new opportunities. The role is part of Modity’s new product organization, where digital and AI-driven products are developed and brought into production.

As Product AI Engineer, you will turn prioritized product initiatives and business needs into functional digital and AI-driven products. You will use the technical platforms, AI capabilities, components and ways of working established by the Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems.

The role complements the Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems by applying the AI capabilities, agents, technical tools and frameworks that are being developed across Modity. You will work closely with the Product Owner and Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems, with a clear focus on practical product development—from prototype and MVP to production, follow-up and continuous improvement.

This role does not include personnel responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Translate prioritized product initiatives and business needs into functional technical solutions and products.
• Develop full-stack and backend functionality, including the APIs and system integrations required by the products.
• Implement and configure AI-, LLM- and agent-based functionality using established technical guidelines, platforms and components.
• Use, integrate and contribute to improving the AI capabilities, agents, components and tools established by the Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems.
• Implement and configure the data flows, integrations and technical components required for the products being developed.
• Rapidly develop and evaluate prototypes and MVPs to test product ideas, usability and business value.
• Take responsibility for technical implementation, testing, production deployment, monitoring and continuous product development.
• Ensure that solutions are robust, secure, scalable and maintainable over time.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems, project teams, business stakeholders and other relevant functions.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• A relevant post-secondary technical education or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in full-stack and/or backend development, including APIs and system integrations.
• Experience developing and implementing AI-, LLM- or agent-based functionality.
• Experience taking products from prototype and MVP to production, including testing, deployment and continuous development.
• A strong product mindset and an ability to move from complicated challanges to simple solutions
• A good understanding of data flows, platform architecture, information security and scalability.
• Experience working pragmatically and iteratively in agile, cross-functional teams while balancing speed, quality and long-term sustainability.
• An interest in and ability to understand Modity’s business, customer needs and the energy market.
• Strong initiative, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to turn ideas into results.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience from the energy industry or another data-intensive and business-critical environment.
• Experience from start-up/scale-up organizations or industries where technology and data are central to the business.
• Experience working with AI agents, RAG solutions, model integrations or modern AI development frameworks.
• Experience with cloud environments, DevOps practices and monitoring solutions for production systems.
• Knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language.

You enjoy hands-on development and are comfortable moving between rapid prototyping, technical implementation and the continuous improvement of production solutions.

You can balance speed with quality and long-term maintainability and understand when to test an idea quickly and when a solution requires greater robustness and scalability.
