Are you ready to build robust data pipelines and enable advanced analytics that drive business decisions? Ahlsell is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our central Analytics team. You'll collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Data Analysts in a cross-functional product organization, contributing to projects across sales, sustainability, emission reporting, and financial analytics.

Location

• Remote work from either Sweden, Norway or Finland, in a distributed team with travel to meet up at our headquarter at Liljeholmen in Stockholm a couple of times a year.

What You Will Do

• Design & Build: Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations to support analytics and reporting needs.
• Optimize & Automate: Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance through best practices in data engineering.
• Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with product teams and stakeholders to deliver data solutions that create business value.
• Enable Analytics: Provide well-structured, accessible data for advanced analytics and reporting.

About You

We are looking for a team-oriented, experienced Data Engineer who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys solving complex data challenges. You are proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a cross-functional setting with both technical and business stakeholders. You take ownership of your work, maintain high professional standards, and have an open mindset with a willingness to learn and share knowledge.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience in a similar Data Engineering role and a degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Strong experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and working with large datasets.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or other relevant programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with ELT processes, data modeling, and integrating data from internal and external sources.
• Familiarity with Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with distributed streaming technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar.
• Experience with Databricks and DBT.
• Experience with Power BI or equivalent reporting tools.
• Understanding of Data Mesh principles and federated data ownership.
• Familiarity with OLAP databases and data warehousing concepts.
• Agile experience working with product owners and teams.
• Proficiency in at least one Nordic language: Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, or Finnish.
