Introduction:
Thesis work is an excellent way to get closer to Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their Scania career with their degree project.
Background:
In the automotive industry, managing and visualizing the flow of information related to forecasted and produced volumes, bill of materials (BOMs), and part-level data is crucial for efficient operations. This project aims to enhance data connectivity and visualization across tier-n levels, enabling better decision-making and insights into component usage, volume forecasting and spending.
Objective:
The objective of this master's thesis is map information flow and databases for forecasted and produced volumes, BOMs, and part-level data. The tool, Power BI, will connect forecasted volumes with BOMs in order to visualize tier-n quantities, link part numbers from the BOM with prices to analyze spending, and incorporate attributes such as SB status, non-assigned or assigned, price validity, and replacement tracking. Additionally, the tool will visualize the location of wire harness usage on trucks (cabin, chassis, engine, gearbox) and compare design BOMs with production BOMs.
Job description:
Develop a Power BI dashboard to visualize tier-n quantities and spending based on forecasted volumes and BOMs, as well as visualize historical data.
• Integrate part-level data including prices, supplier information, manufacturing part number and time-based volume aggregation.
• Implement filters to analyze component usage by truck area and visualize spending and volume distribution.
• Collect and integrate data from Traton brands where available.
• Enable comparison between design BOMs and production BOMs.
• Ensure the tool supports attributes such as SB status, assigned non-assigned status, price validity, and replacement tracking.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and validate the tool's functionality
