About the job

Marshall Group is the audio, tech and design powerhouse uniting musicians and music lovers through genre-breaking audio innovation. We are home to Marshall, Natal Drums, Urbanears and adidas headphones.

For over sixty years, we’ve amplified the sound of the world’s most talented artists. We’ve brought their music to crowds and solo listeners everywhere. We give sound a design that resonates with ears and eyes, as well as at a deeper cultural level. No matter the scene or music genre, we aim to excite, intrigue and surprise.

Bridging iconic rock ‘n’ roll heritage with cutting-edge innovation and culture-driven brand-building, our group activities span professional music equipment, consumer electronics, live events, a record label, and more.

We empower around 800 highly talented people across 8 global locations. Our products are sold in over 90 markets worldwide, totalling a combined annual turnover of USD 360 million.

Right now, we need to strengthen our Design team with a Sustainable Design Manager who will take the lead in driving our sustainability agenda in the product area.

What you’ll do:

We take sustainability seriously and do it for real, based on where we can make the greatest impact. You will be a driving force towards our goals of circularity, translating Marshall’s overall ambition in circularity and sustainability into measurable product goals. You will be responsible for leading our design-related product work to impact the environment as little as possible, while also using it as a competitive advantage. You will be driving the topic in the development and design of new products and guiding others to make conscious choices of materials and production processes. This means that you will both be embedded in teams with others but also take an expert role in projects where you might not be directly involved.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Led circular design in the development team and made concrete choices of materials, processes and other design decisions impacting the overall sustainability of the product.
  • Driving circular design in projects, from early research, ideation and concept work through to implementation.
  • Sustainable materials development and implementation, in projects and in R&D.
  • Investigate and explore new materials in the project portfolio whilst also focusing on maintenance and securing component availability.
  • Drive prolonged lifetime through design for repair and service together with Quality, Mechanical Engineering and R&D in Shenzhen.
  • Report product sustainability data for sustainability communication for our products across our brands.
  • Aligning our product strategy with our sustainability strategy through creative solutions together with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers and Compliance.
  • Managing sustainability projects and initiatives; tracking of status, progress and information sharing with stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for:

Curious and solution-oriented strategic thinker and a strong doer with great data-handling and information-management skills.

Team and people-oriented and thrives in a cross-functional context and an entrepreneurial setting in a fast-growing company.

Strong ability to structure, organise and present findings to stakeholders and decision forums.

You probably have the following experiences & skills:

  • Several years of experience working in technical organisations
  • Master (or minimum Bachelor with longer experience) in technology or design
  • Deep and wide competence in sustainable design acquired from university and work experience
  • Deep knowledge in product development as well as technical and design matters, such as materials and production processes.
  • Bonus working with product certifications within sustainability, such as Cradle to Cradle, TCO or similar.
  • Experience in setting and driving long-term sustainability goals, preferably within consumer electronics, tech, and/or hardware.

Our pledge:

We thrive to foster an inclusive workplace and we do not discriminate based on race, religion, disability, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or marital status. We firmly believe that Marshall thrives when our employees do, leading to better experiences for our consumers.

We encourage applications from all over the world. To enable transitioning from another country for a role at Marshall, we offer re-location support. This support is tailored for each role but always includes visa/work permit application, local authority registration, and home-finding service. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Does this sound like you?

We look forward to reviewing your application!
