In order to obtain electric machines with high efficiency, high power density and high reliability, corrosion resistance of permanent magnets is of high importance.
Target
The overall objective of this thesis project is to investigate the corrosion resistance of permanent magnets at elevated temperature in heavy duty vehicle application. A literature study will be done in beginning of the project. Based on this, a corrosion test will be designed and used for testing different magnets and coatings, followed by sample preparation and analysis of the magnets.
This thesis project will be conducted within the Materials Technology department at Scania R&D in Södertälje, Sweden.
