About the job

We are looking for two Senior Designers with either a UX or UI focus or maybe both! You will help us combine deep user understanding and research with the best of psychology and technology, in order to bring state-of-the-art, free-of-charge tools for personal growth and human connection to as many people as possible.

What we believe

At 29k, we believe that individuals have the capacity to change the world for the better. And that, if we can unleash people's ability to live more meaningful lives, they, in‌ ‌turn, will improve the world through their actions.

We believe that by combining the best tools psychology has to offer with the best technology, we can have a profound impact on the mental growth and wellbeing of millions.

Who we are

29k is a Stockholm-based, international, non-profit, social-impact tech company, with research partners at Karolinska, University of London and Harvard, tasked with building a free and open platform for personal development. We have a 5-year goal of improving the lives of 5 million people, and a long term goal of reaching a threshold where we see systemic change in the world.

Our app, launched at the beginning of 2020, is funded by philanthropists and partnerships, and thus free for the end-users. Since the release, with very limited marketing, more than 60 000 people from 150+ countries have downloaded the app, and it had a rating of 4.8 out of 5 in the AppStore.

We are in a scale-up phase, and are organised in cross-functional product teams, with users at the center.

Examples of everyday tasks in our product team are:

  • driving ideation phase and concept development of new features
  • designing user flows, interactions, content structure and navigation
  • creating intuitive, inspiring, lovable user interfaces
  • user research planning and facilitation
  • developing and testing solution prototypes
  • deciding short-, mid- and long-term strategy for the whole organisation, together with the other teams.
Who you are

We are looking for strategic and structured UI and UX designers who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty in a small team, focused on bringing deep and meaningful personal growth to the world. We also practice what we preach, so not only will you contribute to something meaningful for the world, you'll get to personally grow as a member of our team.

We think that you:

  • have a solid experience as a UX and/or UI designer or similar in consumer apps or mobile web platforms
  • are comfortable with most of end-to-end design, from requirement analysis and concept phase, via user-research, to delivering ready-to-implement wire-frames and designs
  • can transform our visual brand and user insights into solutions and visual design that align with desired impact/outcome
  • can recognize the needs of the team and the product and independently set an agenda based on that
  • thrive in interdisciplinary teams, in our case consisting of psychology researchers, product owners and developers
  • have experience of and enjoy working with design systems, and in tools such as Figma, Miro and Notion.

It is also an advantage if you:

  • love creating illustrations and/or animations
  • are passionate about design thinking
  • have experience with content services and/or creating engaging experiences for mobile platforms.

To thrive in our team, we believe that you:

  • are curious, transparent, supportive and inspire trust
  • can grasp the big picture, and explain your design in an engaging and pedagogical way
  • embrace collaboration and co-creation
