The speed and the quality of our strategy execution will be the most important differentiator in the coming years. Therefore, we are now looking for a Design Engineer for the axles and suspension development function within the R&D organisation.

Job Description

As an Axle Development Engineer you will be responsible for:
• Contribute with good communication and collaboration within the team.
• Work in a tight and effective team to deliver the right customer value for our customers in China.
• Be the engineer responsible for different axle components for heavy-duty trucks.
• Together with a multi-functional team, to develop the future components and sub-system concerning weight, cost, and manufacturability.
• You will deal with practical problem-solving in collaboration with a cross-functional working group, as in R&D, production, purchasing, and aftermarket. Based on present products you, in close cooperation with production engineers and purchasing, shall find cost-effective and for the market optimized solutions.
• CAD competence is essential, preferably in CATIA. Previous experience from working with Scania, in the Scania CAD environment, is meritorious
• As an axle development engineer, your primary responsibility is to oversee the entire development process of new axles, from the concept stage to the start of production.

Your Profile

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar.


You should have:
• over 5 years of experience in design and development engineering
• an entrepreneur mindset
• a positive attitude, and a natural team-building mindset
• a professional relationship-building approach and find it easy to work with other people, especially with people from other cultures (Swedish, Chinese, Brazilians, Germans, and other nationalities)
• enjoy learning new things and have a good ability to absorb new information
• good holistic overview capabilities
• experience with driven axles or powertrain systems

Your Location

The Industrial Operations Asia Research and Development is currently based in Södertälje (Sweden) and China (Rugao). The location for this position is in Södertälje and the candidate should be available for business trips to China according to the project demands.
