Job description

Within the function Business Location, we develop, manage, and optimize the business locations in south Sweden on behalf of Inter IKEA Group Sweden by creating preconditions for Inter IKEA Group companies to grow with a long-term sustainable perspective, develop current and future business locations including both properties and outdoor areas, increase long term value and make our business location sustainable, easy, affordable and fun IKEA places and spaces.

As a Construction Leader you will lead the construction aspects of specific building projects from start to finish and ensure compliance with all relevant demands and regulations including tenants ordering, according to decided ways of working.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support in terms of technical and construction matters in the project development phase.
  • Prepare and follow up project budget calculations and investment approval time schedules.
  • Manage the detailed architectural, technical- and engineering design of the project in accordance with IKEA standards, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Manage and obtain the permits that enable construction of the project to be started.
  • Manage procurement of external consultants, suppliers, and contractors in accordance with established IKEA procedures.
  • Management of all external and internal counterparts to ensure that project construction is carried out correctly to satisfy the project requirements on site safety, quality, time, and budget.
  • Detailed control over all aspects of project construction costs, using IKEA's standard cost management IT tool to maintain a correct overview of the overall project cost image, related actual and estimated costs to the budget and record approved payments.
  • Ensure satisfactory hand-over of completed areas for tenant build-up in accordance with an agreed schedule.
  • Ensure satisfactory commissioning, testing, training, and delivery of technical and building systems to the manager and technician personnel, including providing all necessary documentation.

Qualification

As a Construction leader you will demonstrate good leadership capabilities including high commitment to business goals by thinking holistically, long term and driving towards expected benefits. You have passion and strong ability to build trustful relationships at all levels of the organization and with stakeholders and possess the desire to learn from others. You have the ability to improve and simplify current ways of working and solving problems and dilemmas in line with IKEA key values.

  • Academic degree in civil engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years of experience in consulting and/or contracting.
  • Previous experience in complex tender processes and contract negotiations.
  • Previous experience in construction management on site.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Project and working in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good interpersonal and skills in English.

Furthermore, added advantage will be in leading large construction projects and having experience of working in an international environment.
