Lead AI Engineer to Modity

As Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems, you will play a key role in building Modity’s technical AI capabilities and developing agentic solutions that can be used across the organization. ABOUT THE ROLE

Modity operates in an energy industry undergoing rapid change, where AI, connected data, automation and evolving customer needs are creating new opportunities. The role is part of Modity’s new product organization, where the first AI capabilities are being established and applied in product development. You will work in an environment where technology, analytics, innovation and business come together, with a strong focus on turning new ideas into solutions. As Lead AI Engineer Agentic Systems, you will be responsible for developing and advancing Modity’s technical AI capabilities, with a focus on agentic systems, AI platforms and technical frameworks. The role combines hands-on development with company-wide technical leadership, including driving technical decisions and establishing common ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy AI agents, LLM-based solutions and other AI-driven applications into production.
• Own the technical architecture and common principles for Modity’s AI solutions.
• Establish and develop agentic systems, platform components and technical frameworks that form the foundation of Modity’s long-term AI capabilities.
• Actively contribute to the development of the first AI-based products, ensuring that shared solutions and ways of working are based on real business needs and aligned with the overall strategy.
• Ensure secure integration between AI solutions, data, systems, models and APIs.
• Evaluate and recommend AI models, platforms and technical frameworks based on business value, quality, security and cost.
• Establish practices for testing, monitoring, access control, traceability and responsible use of AI.
• Lead and align technical decisions, and communicate opportunities, recommendations and risks to different stakeholders.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and the long-term development of Modity’s AI capabilities.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• A relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, data engineering or a similar field.
• Proven experience developing and deploying modern AI- or LLM-based solutions, including RAG, agentic systems and model integration.
• Strong Python and backend development skills, including system architecture, APIs and integrations.
• A good understanding of cloud environments, information security, access control and production AI solutions.
• Experience in technical leadership, architecture ownership or mentoring.
• The ability to combine hands-on development with technical decision-making and business understanding.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience from the energy industry or another data-intensive and business-critical environment.
• Experience from rapidly growing organizations or other industries where technology and data are central to the business.
• Knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language.
