As Head of Sustainability, you will lead and develop AFRY’s Group Sustainability agenda, ensuring that sustainability becomes even more deeply embedded in our core business by driving initiatives that strengthen our sustainability position internally and in the market. You will be responsible for integrating sustainability across business strategy, sales, delivery, governance, and decision-making. This is a key role with high visibility, broad influence, and strong support from senior leadership.

You will head a team of three specialists with complementary expertise and collaborate closely with leaders across AFRY’s Global Divisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and evolve AFRY’s strategic sustainability agenda, including themes such as climate, biodiversity, circularity, resilience, and sustainable engineering and design.
• Drive cross-functional sustainability initiatives connected to key sectors and emerging technologies.
• Engage with internal key stakeholders in the Global Divisions such as Segment Heads, Sustainability Leads, to develop AFRY’s portfolio of sustainable client projects.
• Lead and develop the Group Sustainability team, strengthening capabilities, collaboration, and ways of working.
• Define, develop, and follow up on sustainability objectives, KPIs, and targets aligned with client, investor, and regulatory expectations.
• Lead AFRY´s climate action work, including transition planning, roadmaps, targets, and annual GHG accounting and reporting.
• Own and drive AFRY’s Double Materiality Assessment and ensure integration into core processes.
• Collaborate with Group Finance to ensure CSRD-aligned reporting, governance, and internal controls.
• Own AFRY’s EU Taxonomy reporting.
• Represent AFRY internally and externally to strengthen our sustainability profile and positioning.
• Align Group Sustainability roadmaps with key internal stakeholders.
• Participate in the Commercial & Communications leadership team.

Qualifications

• Experience in corporate sustainability, preferably in global, engineering-focused, or knowledge-intensive organizations.
• Strong business acumen and experience connecting sustainability to commercial opportunities and strategic decision-making.
• Proven experience leading sustainability teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of key frameworks and regulations (CSRD, ESRS, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, CSDDD, etc.).
• Experience developing sustainability strategies, climate transition plans, and materiality assessments.
• Effective communication skills and experience engaging with senior management, boards, and external stakeholders.
• Master’s degree in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, business/economics, or related fields.
• Full professional proficiency in English and Swedish.
