Role Summary

We are looking for an Interim Head of M&A to provide leadership and continuity during a maternity leave period, ensuring that Scania continues to deliver on its inorganic growth strategy and strategic investment agenda. The role will focus on identifying, evaluating, and executing potential acquisitions, partnerships, and investments, as well as managing Scania’s existing investment portfolio.

The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic and financial acumen with proven experience in managing complex international transactions. The role requires excellent stakeholder management skills, the ability to negotiate successfully, and a deep understanding of aligning corporate development activities with Scania’s long-term roadmap.

The period for the interim role is from 260201 to 261016.

Job Responsibilities

The VC and M&A team is a small and fast-paced department, with bright and energetic colleagues undertaking strategically significant transactions. The right candidate will be offered significant exposure to international deal-making and portfolio management in a dynamic and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Alignment and Evaluation

  • Ensure the M&A agenda aligns with Scania’s roadmap and long-term strategic goals.
  • Identify and assess potential acquisitions, partnerships, and investment opportunities, including financial, strategic, and commercial feasibility.

Transaction Execution

  • Lead and manage M&A transactions end-to-end, including due diligence, negotiations, structuring, and approvals.
  • Negotiate terms to ensure favorable outcomes for Scania.

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor and manage Scania’s existing investment portfolio from a corporate perspective, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Track portfolio performance and provide insights for optimisation and future direction.

Integration and Governance

  • Oversee the integration of acquisitions to ensure smooth operational and cultural alignment.
  • Ensure all M&A processes adhere to Scania’s policies, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (finance, legal, business units) and external advisors to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Manage large, complex international projects and drive effective stakeholder engagement.
Who You Are

You are an experienced M&A professional with the ability to take on a senior leadership role on an interim basis, ensuring strategic continuity and effective delivery in a fast-paced corporate environment.

 

We also believe that you have: 

  • Extensive experience in M&A, corporate finance, or strategy consulting.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, valuation, and investment strategies.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and executing large-scale, cross-border transactions.
  • Experience in portfolio management and corporate governance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to succeed in a temporary leadership role.
