Scania Heltid Södertälje

Development Engineer Test and Simulation

Om denna position
Test Cell Engineer R&D, Internal Combustion Engines

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Your responsibilities

Working closely with one or more development engineers, you will primarily conduct tests on combustion engines and aftertreatment in test cells. The work is carried out in modern test cells with computer-controlled control and measurement systems and largely automated test cycles. The test cell engineer's duties also include installing test objects, which can sometimes be physically demanding, or assembly work such as exhaust systems, sensors, and measuring equipment.

In addition, you will be expected to work actively with continuous improvements in planning and testing in the engine test cell, which includes proposing and implementing improvements to both equipment and processes so that the test cells are used optimally.
Important decisions are made based on test results and regulatory requirements must be met, which is why quality is a central concept in the business. As the testing operations are extensive and very broad in nature, there are good opportunities for broadening and development for the right applicant.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who finds it exciting to be part of the development and see the results of all our efforts at Traton to produce the world's best engines for heavy vehicles. You want to be an important part of our transition to a sustainable transport system while continuing to meet our customers' high expectations of our products.
You have a basic technical understanding and are curious to develop and learn more. The ability to read and understand technical specifications, drawings, and technical documentation, as well as computer skills, are good to have. If you also have previous knowledge or experience of, for example, testing, programming, combustion engine technology, engine control systems, test cell control systems such as PUMA or STP, or a keen interest in engines, this is an added bonus.

If you are a meticulous, service-oriented, proactive, have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or is a technically qualified/interested high school engineer that wants to work with varied and, to some extent, practical work, then you will enjoy working with us. As we have frequent contact with other departments within both Traton and Scania, you must be fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

The position is covered by the white-collar agreement and is normally daytime work, but staggered working hours can be scheduled with two weeks' notice. For weeks with staggered working hours, the hours are 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Friday off.

What we offer

At Traton Powertrain Testing, you will learn a great deal about Traton's engines and work in a high-tech environment with advanced measuring instruments and equipment. Our department is characterized by open collaboration between sections and groups with excellent support functions for all equipment and more advanced testing. The opportunities for learning and development are virtually unlimited.

As an employee at Traton, we offer career and development opportunities as well as other benefits such as a company car, performance bonus, occupational pension, flexible working hours, reduced-price lunch, and much more. If you live in Stockholm, we offer a direct bus service between Stockholm and Södertälje with Scania Jobexpres

Application

Your application should include a CV and any relevant certificates. We welcome all applicants and strive for diversity in our recruitment processes. Apply as soon as possible, no later than 2025-10-13. Screening will take place on an ongoing basis during the application period. Logical and personality tests may be used as part of the selection process, and a background check may be required for this role. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact: Johannes Dahl, Manager, johannes.dahl@scania.com (Peter Edelsvärd, Acting Manager)

We look forward to your application!
