Your new job

As a Communication Specialist, you’ll play an important part in the team. You’ll bring communication plans to life. The impact of our work will resonate in homes and hearts across the world. Your tactical skills and hands-on communication abilities make you a pragmatic contributor to the business. You enable colleagues to use communication in the best ways to reach their desired business results – and you make sure they can measure their impact and improve the next time around, too. 

You’ll report to the Communication Manager of Retail Concept. The Retail Concept Communication team has the assignment to support and enable the core business of Retail Concept to reach its business goals and on a typical working day you’ll:

• Execute communication plans
• Collaborate with colleagues in the business
• Creating, producing and activating content in our different communication channels
• Make messages clear, simple, and understandable to various target groups
• Secure the IKEA tone of voice
• Providing relevant support, guidelines, tools and templates
• Participate, and contributing to, relevant networks and cross-functional assignments.
• Act as an ambassador and role model for the IKEA Brand, culture, and values.

What we’d like you to bring to the table

The role of the Communication Specialist will need a high level of passion for communication and good collaboration skills as you will be working together with the communication colleagues in Retail Concept. We also think you have good ability to drive engagement, and create communication plans and assets, always with simplicity in mind. It is also important to have an understanding of how communication supports and increases the impact of a business agenda, to be able to support the leadership areas in a good way. We value experience from the retail side of the IKEA business, and we think you are a team player with a positive mindset, a structured way of working and ability to move things forward.

To thrive in this role, you have:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience within communication
• Demonstrated experience of being hands-on, structured, and a service-minded team player with ability to meet deadlines and work independently as well as together 
• Ability to create communication with simplicity in mind
• Good understanding of the communication channel landscape and how to reach different target groups
• Good understanding of working with communication planning and execution, and an understanding of how communication supports and increases the impact of a business agenda
• Good understanding of how to deliver a successful presentation
• Good understanding of layout, copywriting, and web-publishing
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Ability to build trust, and strong working relationships across a diverse group of people 
• Are passionate about retail, life at home and home furnishing

This is a full-time role and can be placed in either Delft, the Netherlands or Malmö, Sweden. The Communication Specialist will report to the Communication Manager for Retail Concept.
