Scania • Full time • Södertälje
This job is inactive and can no longer be applied to
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
A degree project is an excellent way to get in closer contact with Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their Scania career with their degree project.
Background:
The housings of the electrical machine as well as gearbox are joined together with bolts. The sum of joint between housings can consist with up to 200 bolts in total. The bolted joint needs to be sufficiently strong for all the loads and as well ensure that no oil leakage occurs. We have methods to both estimate the strength and the sealing ability. But we believe that the time it takes to evaluate the placement of bolts as well as optimizing the amount of bolts can be improved in order to save development time as well as making the product more cost efficient.
Objective:
The aim with this thesis is to develop a simulation process that derive an optimal bolt pattern.
Job description:
In the assignment you will use FE-simulations to estimate the load transfer between housings. You will develop an algorithm to determine an optimal bolt pattern. The algorithm should thereafter be verified with current methods to verify that we can use it to make quick assumptions regarding different joint concepts. Due to the developmental nature of the work, the scope can be expanded to encompass one or several stretch goals.
The work is primarily carried out at Scania R&D in Södertälje.
