Programme Manager

A day in the life of a Programme Manager

The Programme Manager is a keystone member of our team, acting as the link between our delivery teams, working directly with our clients as well as our senior UK management team. You will be working on large programmes of work, where you will be accountable for ensuring that the work we deliver remains aligned with the client’s strategic goals and provides maximum value.

You’ll learn a lot along the way with opportunities across our varied client base. You'll work alongside a passionate and talented senior delivery team looking to continue the sustained growth of one of the most exciting businesses in technology and digital consulting.

In addition, you will: 

• Be managing the delivery of a programme of work, from participation in pre-sales to inception and through its full lifecycle
• Work with Delivery Managers to ensure individual project outcomes work towards the overall strategic goals of our clients
• Oversee the planning, execution and completion of individual projects within the programme
• Co-ordinate efforts across the various programme teams, to maximise efficiency
• Work with the client and our delivery teams to enhance ways of working, and/or develop new processes to support efficiency
• Manage the programme budget by ensuring financial tracking is in place, and introduce measures to use the budget available effectively
• Coach both client and Valtech team members in effective Agile practices and principles
• Ensure effective governance processes are in place across the programme
• Lead various client-focused activities from bid phase of project to delivery
• Manage communication with the client up to C-suite level
• Build and manage multi-functional delivery teams with budgetary management responsibilities
• Continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating and managing uncertainty
• Manage dependencies, constraints and overcome obstacles

You and the role

You are someone with:

• Experience of delivering £5m to £10m digital transformation and technology-enabled change programmes gained within a client facing digital solutions environment
• A deep career anchored in a digital or software delivery discipline
• Experience effectively and persuasively communicating with senior stakeholders, including CXOs
• Experience of visibly leading within an organisation and be able to evidence an impact beyond simply “getting the job done”
• Significant experience of synthesising approaches to best suit the challenge and team (for example agile methods, Lean UX, Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Design Sprints, programme management methods)
• Experience supporting the winning of new work:
• Listening to potential clients’ high-level needs
• Understanding what expertise is needed and bringing together the right people to design an approach to meeting those needs
• Planning and cost modelling
• Writing compelling proposals

We would love if you have 

• Domain experience in one or more of:
• Retail ecommerce
• Travel
  
• Experience with documented delivery methods/techniques and opinions on their suitability/merits: Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, DAD.
