About Pophouse

Pophouse is a pioneering entertainment and investment company focused on iconic music catalogues and artist legacies. They combine world-class storytelling, data-driven insights, and cutting-edge technology to unlock long-term value in the world’s most beloved music IP. Recent projects include large scale catalogue acquisitions, immersive experiences, and global brand expansions. As they continue to expand their investment portfolio, they are building a world-class analytics capability to better understand the cultural, commercial, and platform-driven factors shaping music consumption today.

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to join Pophouse’s investment team. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you will build the data infrastructure, pipelines, and systems that power deal evaluation, catalogue underwriting, and long-term value creation. You will work closely with the deal team and analytics stakeholders to design and maintain the data foundations that enable large-scale ingestion of streaming and market data across platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and TikTok. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics enablement, and the cultural and commercial dynamics of music. It’s an opportunity to build something foundational in a fast-growing investment environment where data is core to strategic decision making.

What you’ll do

Data Infrastructure & Pipelines

  • Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines across streaming, social, and market-level data sources
  • Architect scalable ETL/ELT processes ensuring data quality, lineage, reliability, and performance
  • Integrate third-party APIs such as Spotify for Artists, YouTube Analytics, Chartmetric, Luminate, TikTok, and internal platforms
  • Build data models supporting financial forecasting, deal evaluation, and catalogue performance tracking
  • Ensure strong data governance, documentation, and engineering best practices across the ecosystem

Data Products & Internal Tooling

  • Develop and maintain internal datasets, analytics layers, and semantic models for Power BI/Fabric
  • Partner with analysts and the deal team to build reporting structures and dashboards
  • Enable self-service analytics by improving how the organization accesses and interprets data
  • Collaborate with tech and data partners to guide infrastructure decisions and optimize environments

Market & Streaming Intelligence Enablement

  • Build systems that monitor global and regional streaming patterns
  • Develop pipelines tracking genre growth, demographic shifts, and geographic trends
  • Support modelling frameworks that forecast streaming trajectories and catalogue performance

Current tech stack

While the environment continues to evolve, you can expect to work with:

  • SQL & Python
  • Distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Databricks or equivalent)
  • Modern data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Lakehouse environments)
  • Orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory, Fabric pipelines)
  • Power BI / Microsoft Fabric
  • Streaming and analytics APIs across major digital platforms
About you

You are a technically strong and curious Data Engineer who thrives on building reliable data systems from the ground up. You care deeply about data quality, performance, and scalability — and you understand how robust data foundations enable smarter investment decisions. You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where business needs evolve, and you enjoy translating complex commercial questions into structured technical solutions. Ideally, you are excited by the intersection of music, culture, technology, and data.

We also see that you…

  • Have at least 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or backend/data platform development
  • Are highly proficient in SQL and Python
  • Have hands-on experience with ETL/ELT design patterns and modern data modeling concepts
  • Have worked with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory, or Fabric pipelines
  • Have experience ingesting and modelling large-scale datasets, including time-series and behavioural data
  • Are familiar with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Databricks
  • Have worked with modern data warehousing or lakehouse environments
  • Take ownership of pipeline reliability, monitoring, and documentation

Bonus points

  • Experience supporting analytics, forecasting models, or investment workflows
  • Experience with Power BI / Fabric
  • Familiarity with streaming-platform analytics APIs
  • A strong interest in music, entertainment, and pop culture
More about Pophouse

At Pophouse, data is not a support function — it’s a strategic capability. You’ll be joining a company that combines storytelling, technology, and investment expertise to shape the future of music IP. This is an opportunity to build and influence a modern analytics capability from the ground up, working closely with decision-makers and contributing directly to high-value investments in globally recognized catalogues and artist legacies.

If you’re excited about building world-class data infrastructure at the heart of music, culture, and investment — we’d love to hear from you.
