Department Manager for Distribution & Investments within WAM Tech

What you will be doing 

As the Department Manager for ITS Distribution & Investments within the WAM Tech area (Wealth & Asset Management) you will play a pivotal role in establishing and guiding a newly formed department. You will contribute to an upcoming large digital transformation and help build completely new capabilities to position SEB at the forefront of the industry. In this position you will drive innovation and develop an effective digital ecosystem that supports savers, traders and investors. You will work closely with business representatives from Investment & Trading Solutions (ITS) product area within Wealth & Asset Management.  


You will define the department’s vision, oversee solution development, and ensure our technology remains secure, efficient, stable and competitive. Leading a diverse, geographically distributed team, you will set strategy and actively manage software development to elevate SEB’s position in the savings area. This role reports to the Head of WAM Tech and is part of the WAM Tech management team. You will also be part of the ITS Distribution & Post Trade management team. 

As Department Manager you will:

  • Develop and implement the department’s strategy and transformation plans. 
  • Lead and set direction for both the department and your management team. 
  • Ensure cost efficiency and operational effectiveness. 
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective cross-collaboration. 
  • Foster leadership within the department and drive change related to staffing, upskilling, work force planning and sourcing. 
  • Actively oversee a healthy application portfolio, focusing on risk, security, stability, and compliance. 
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with other tech managers and stakeholders from business, business services, and architecture. 
  • Champion modern, efficient ways of working, including software development principles, agile, DevSecOps, and lean methodologies. 

Who are you?

  • Action-oriented with proven track record of successfully leading international, tech-driven organizations and transformations. 
  • Skilled in long-term strategic planning and roadmap development and transforming them into well-anchored actionable plans. 
  • Deep expertise in software development, maintenance, agile methodologies, vendor management, and emerging technologies such as cloud, data and AI. 
  • Strong understanding of savings and investment services and client needs from a digitalization perspective; experience in Capital Markets and Wealth Management is especially valuable. 
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster trust among stakeholders and partners. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and inspire managers and teams within the technology sector. 
  • Hands-on, goal-oriented, and accountable for delivering high-value results. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Pragmatic, creative, and innovative in finding sustainable solutions to business challenges. 
  • Genuine passion for leadership and technology within the savings, trading, and investment sector.
