Job Responsibilities

As a Patent Attorney at Scania, you are responsible for managing the patent portfolio within a specific technical area. Your mission is to ensure that the products and services developed in this field:

· Have adequate patent protection in relevant markets

· Can be launched without the risk of being blocked by third-party intellectual property rights

Most of the case prosecution in Sweden and before the European Patent Office (EPO) is handled in-house, while work in other countries is managed through local agents.

 

Your Main Responsibilities:

· Maintain close contact with R&D engineers at Scania and/or Traton to Identify and capture new inventions and Follow up throughout the entire patent application process

· Collaborate with R&D management to make decisions related to patent filings

· Participate in development projects to gain insights into long-term technical strategies

· Serve as an expert resource in IP-related matters for other parts of the company, such as Purchasing and Marketing.

· Represent Scania and Traton in IP matters in collaboration projects with external partners, e.g., within the Volkswagen Group

 

Who You Are

We are looking for a Patent Attorney with at least few years’ experience from industry, Private Practice or a Patent Office. It is particularly advantageous if you are competent within the field of vehicle technology, and in particular automotive components. It is also advantageous if you are a European Patent Attorney or have started studying for the EQE.

You find it easy to interact with others but are also comfortable processing tasks on your own within your field. You must be open for new ideas and willing to change the way things are done. Since most of our correspondence is in English and Swedish, you must be proficient in this in writing as well as speaking. It is also advantageous if you have at least basic knowledge of German.

This Is Us

Today we have a great team of 17 Patent attorneys and Paralegals at the Group IP Department and you will be a part of one of the groups of Patent Attorneys. Our office is located at Scania Technical Centre in Södertälje. The commute from Stockholm is easy with our own commuter bus departing from Cityterminalen and Liljeholmen. We also offer a hybrid working model.
