Are you the right person to establish and expand our new Reliable Wireless Lab in Lund? We are offering an opportunity to meet and work with the most innovative experts in the field, from both industry and academia around the world. This is a stimulating and challenging position that requires creativity, agility, tenacity and the ability to simultaneously manage many varying issues. You will be part of the SICS management team.
Your everyday life
In this role you will be responsible for the lab's research focus as well as people management. You will also be one of the main SICS interfaces in the Skåne region, building strong local relationships in both industry and academia networks, to attract visibility, spread results and secure new projects.
The focus of the new lab is design of communication systems for critical wireless applications. Here, critical refers to applications that require support for secure, low latency and highly reliable communication. The systems typically comprise a number of wireless links, connected via hubs, distributed computing and storage units, as well as mobile devices. The emphasis is on applied research with a solid foundation in real industry challenges. The goal of the lab is to be a part of the global 5G eco-system, where devices for critical wireless systems in different application domains are developed, integrated into the network and the system in operation is verified.
Our other research areas, within SICS South, is focused on Security, e-Health and Software System Engineering. Together with competent colleagues in these areas you will put SICS and Reliable Wireless Communication on the map in Skåne.
Your profile
To succeed in this role you should be driven, good at building relationships, engaging other people and you see opportunities. You also should have experience in self-driven research and it is an advantage if you hold a PhD or equivalent. You will need great practical experience and expertise in the fields where people and digitalization meet and be curious and understand interdisciplinary issues. Experience of working with both industry and academia is needed. Leadership/management experience is an advantage. Communication in the workplace happens in both Swedish and English. Fluent English in speech and writing is necessary.
