Introduction:
Scania is one of the leading European manufacturers of heavy‑duty vehicles (HDV), with global sales of 66'900 trucks, 5'190 buses and 10'990 engines in 2020. When it comes to energy consumption (EC) and global warming, we actively contribute to the necessary reduction of EC and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) with the development of battery-electric vehicles (BEV).
Background:
The ongoing electrification of HDV powertrains is accompanied by complete vehicle simulations to analyse and predict energy consumption, driving range and battery energy throughput. Due to the limited capacity and high cost of BEVs' energy storages, these numbers must be known to correctly assess the customer benefit for the future BEV hauliers. To do so, a complete vehicle model in GT-SUITE is used at Scania / YDMC, Energy Economy.
The tasks are to i) implement existing submodels for the driver and Scania's Eco-roll (CCAP - Cruise Control with Active Prediction) from other simulation tools in GT-SUITE ii) validate the complete vehicle model of a Scania BEV delivery truck 25L B6x2*4.
Target:
The outcome shall be an English thesis on the simulation and validation of the BEV truck model, which can be published by the University. It shall also serve as technical report for Traton, thus for the companies MAN, Scania and Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus.
Assignment:
- Take the existing submodels for driver and Eco-roll from Matlab & Simulink and implement them in GT-SUITE
- Validate the vehicle model of a BEV delivery truck 25L B6x2*4 by direct comparison with road measurements during winter (2021 week 07) and summer (weeks 24-26).
