About the job

Would you like to be part of building the most sought-after streaming service in the Nordics – with the ambition to become the European streaming champion? Launching our fantastic product in new markets is a NENT corporate strategy and a top priority.

We are now looking for a new Fullstack Developer to help us grow the platform, make sure that our service is always up and running and create the next generation of streaming services. Are you our next colleague?

The Position

This is as Fullstack as it gets. You will work on a wide variety of tasks - everything from engineering API:s, automating surveillance and alarms on an infrastructural level and creating user interfaces for managing content. Your work will take place across our whole technical platform, and you will interact with a lot of different stakeholders within Viaplay to bridge the gap between Cloud Platform, Operations and Development.

You will join an on-site team of four called TOC Engineering (as a part of our Technical Operations Center) and work in an agile and QA-conscious tech organization with high demands on reliability. Your main task will be building solutions that help reduce incident resolution time as well as proactively prevent them across the platform. Besides software design and development, you will play a great part in the team’s architectural decisions and make sure that these align with the rest of the platform and infrastructure.

We thrive in using cutting-edge technology, with an ambition to always keeping up to date and constantly challenging the status quo. We mostly work with Node.js in a micro-services architecture which runs serverless in AWS. We build our whole product in-house and the team plays an active role in discussions on how to find the best solutions for always improving our product.

The challenge ahead

During 2021, we will bring Viaplay to the Baltics, Poland and the US. With expansion in mind, our top priority is to have a scalable and resilient platform that is always up and running. In this role, you will be involved in the whole development life cycle - from definition to release and maintenance. You will learn all about the different parts of our product and have lots of complex problems to analyze and discuss and solve together within your team and together with other stakeholders.

You will get the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital media, develop the platform to meet the challenges of a continuously growing user base. Your engagement will shape the future of our service as you will be involved in defining the cutting-edge for VOD.

Some of your daily challenges will include:

  • Building strong and high performing micro-services in Node.js or Golang running in AWS
  • Using multiple programming paradigms and languages.
  • Flexible production environment supported by Docker hosted in the Amazon Cloud.
  • An agile development process where we promote pair/mob programming.
What we are looking for

We’re looking for a passionate developer with a genuine interest in software development and the ambition to constantly improve your skills. • Solid work experience developing web-based services, using Node.js.
  • Good understanding of REST API.
