If so, we’d like to talk to you! We are looking for a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our Platform team and help us shape the New TV world.

The team and role

At Ooyala we strongly believe in a devops model where all teams are responsible for the full lifecycle of the product services they develop. The Platform team is what makes this model possible in a demanding reality with business critical services deployed across hundreds of servers in multiple geographies. The team's mission is to provide our product engineering teams with the best possible tooling and platforms for building, operating and managing our amazing products.

To accomplish this, the team develops and operates a set of core platform services and tools for areas like continuous integration & deployment, service discovery & configuration as well as monitoring and alerting. The team also works closely with our Systems Infrastructure team to ensure we have sufficient scalability, redundancy and resilience in the platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Researching, selecting and extending the right frameworks, tools and technologies for Ooyala's core platform
  • Continuously improving and re-engineering the platform architecture to handle our rapidly growing traffic (our platform currently delivers around 1.5 billion video ads per month and traffic is growing rapidly)
  • Designing and implementing clean APIs and protocols for other teams to build features on top of
  • Troubleshooting and resolving critical issues with the platform
  • Guiding and supporting product engineering teams in making full use of the platforms and tools the team provides

Ooyala captures 3.5 billion analytics events each day. Last year, Ooyala delivered video content to over 220 million unique users around the world. Those viewers played over 10 billion streams comprising almost 30 billion hours of video. And we managed inventory for 30 billion video ad impressions, and delivered over 11 billion ads.
