Full stack developer

The Flattr ecosystem consists of 3 major components. A browser extension that analyses the way our users interact with the web, an API that receives flattrs from the extension and the flattr.com website that serves as the users UI. The website and API are written in modern PHP following SOLID principles and adhering to the PSR standard as best we can. For data storage we mostly use SQL and Redis. Most of the systems logic/work is offloaded to background workers using a queue system, which frees up our nginx servers to only pass data to and from clients. This makes it fairly easy to scale horizontally.

Our infrastructure is made up of self hosted linux servers that are monitored by zabbix and managed using ansible and custom shell script magic. As we are preparing to roll out to a much larger user base a lot of work is currently put in to improving the infrastructure and the tooling we use for the management and development of the ecosystem.

We have just gone live with a closed beta of the new Flattr system and later this year we plan to roll out the open beta on a larger scale including a new API and better statistics tools both for internal and customer use.

• a deep understanding of how the web works.
• the ability to iterate and ship ideas quickly, with loose (at best) direction.
• experience using and developing on free software platforms like GNU/Linux.
• great social skills and the ability to work independently.
• to be passionate about the future of the open web.
• have at least 3 years of work experience.
• excellent communication skills in English.
