Backend Engineer

As a backend engineer at Wrapp you will help design, develop and trim the Wrapp platform where most of the magic happens. You will be part of one of our four teams working on either end-user experience, campaign management, purchase processing or reliability. Your team is cross-functional, largely self-organizing and works in close cooperation with our product team. Some of our recent backend projects include:

• Making the content in the Wrapp iOS and Android apps more personal and relevant by exposing "tiles" on the start screen that appear when certain conditions are met.
• Building the data pipeline that powers Wrapp Index, an interactive website that shows benchmarking statistics for Swedish retailers.
• Performing technical integrations with major Swedish and Finnish banks so that more users can link their bank cards to Wrapp.
• Reworking our service discovery which lets all our Dockerized microservices communicate with each other.

While we have a pretty good idea of where Wrapp is headed we do not have everything figured out yet. We are looking for someone who wants to get involved and is willing to take responsibility for making Wrapp and our platform even better. In order to be successful you will need:

• Proficiency in a commonly used backend programming language like Java or Python. (We usually use Go)
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience working in UNIX environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Curiosity and an eagerness to see the big picture.
• An EU work permit.

Additionally you will feel right at home if you are interested in:

• Amazon Web Services.
• Product development.
• Application monitoring.
• HTTP and web services.
• Modern web, Android or iOS development techniques.
• Formal or informal leadership.
