Videoplaza, an Ooyala company, empowers broadcasters and video publishers to build profitable and sustainable businesses in the internet-delivered TV world.

Videoplaza’s video ad serving platform, Karbon, monetises video experiences across PCs, mobile devices, tablets, game consoles, IPTV, Smart TV and HBBTV. We help publishers and broadcasters manage, sell, optimise yield and deliver video advertising across all these environments. We are growing rapidly and have clients in more than 25 markets worldwide as well as offices across Europe, Asia and the US. Our Stockholm office is the hub for all R&D and has an international feel with colleagues from 16+ countries.

We are looking for a skilled frontend software engineer to join our team of exceptional developers and help us shape the New TV world.

The role

Karbon is the interface through which our clients manage and configure the services Videoplaza provides. It is a professional tool whose UI must cater for the needs of very different types of users and workflows. You’ll be working with the product designer and backend engineers to manage and create great user experiences by providing a simple and intuitive UI. Although you are likely to spend most of the time developing UI components, you will be exposed to and required to understand our backend API technology.

At Videoplaza we practice Agile development with proper Scrum (or in some cases Kanban) and rely on practices such as TDD, pair programming, code reviews, continuous integration pipelines and autonomous teams performing frequent releases. More importantly, we're constantly evaluating ourselves and our processes, trying to find better ways of doing things and helping each other improve. We're absolutely convinced that in order to be really good at something, you need to truly enjoy doing it. We aim to create an inspiring workplace and believe that a great atmosphere plays an important role in bringing the very best out of every individual.

Who we're looking for

Most importantly, you are an outstanding web developer with a firm grasp of the latest HTML, CSS and Javascript standards and browser implementations. We use tools and frameworks tools and frameworks such as JQuery, Backbone.js, RequireJS, Mustache, Underscore, GWT, Git, Maven and Jenkins. Solid experience of one or more of these is no doubt a bonus however the kind of person we are looking for quickly and easily picks up new languages and frameworks.

Our backend APIs are written in Java and Scala and we use use frameworks such as Play, RestEasy, Guice and Swagger. Experience with these are a nice-to-have but not a requirement.

Furthermore we insist that you have a passion for what you do and a hunger for learning new things. We constantly evaluate and try to better ourselves. We expect you to do the same and - just as important - help others improve as well.

All meetings and written communication at Videoplaza are in English. Swedish is not a requirement.
