Frontend Developer (cross-platform JS framework)

The Position

In this role, you will work with our in-house, JavaScript based cross-platform framework to enable the Viaplay app to run reliably on our partners' devices. There is a lot of room to experiment and innovate in this role. Your work is part of Viaplay's strategy to grow and continue to bring an innovative high-quality streaming service to our customers. Viaplay's Smart TV web applications run native on a wide range of different devices, such as Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Philips Smart TV, Sony Smart TV, Playstation, PS3, PS4, Xbox One etc.

The team

You will join a team working closely with our partners to deliver engineering solutions aligned with our technical and product long-term vision, that enable our application to run on new and existing partner devices.

Viaplay today is one of the streaming platforms that reaches the most devices people use in the market, and we aim to remain in that position even on new markets. You will play a big part in making sure we build and fine tune flexible systems for supporting all devices with as little effort as possible.

What we are looking for:

• Solid experience with HTML5, vanilla JavaScript and CSS
• Good understanding of best practices and pattern usage (e.g. MVC, modular application development, etc.)
• Experience designing and implementing complex, scalable architectural solutions, while optimizing for performance and memory use
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Good communication skills in English

Things that would make you stand out:

• Experience optimizing HTML5 / JavaScript / CSS for performance on embedded devices
• Experience working with embedded devices / systems
• Previous experience working within a media company
