Hedvig • Full time • Stockholm
Hedvig is rewriting the rules of insurance, proving that it’s possible to disrupt an entire industry while keeping people’s best interests at heart. We’re on a mission to make insurance genuinely great and that starts with building products that deliver real value. AI is becoming an even more integral part of that journey, and we’re now searching for someone who can help us take the next step.
What about the role?
We are looking for a senior backend software engineer who can help us shape and deliver the next generation of AI-powered product experiences at Hedvig. You will work across our stack, collaborate closely with product and design, and play a key role in bringing practical, reliable AI capabilities into our products.
This is not a pure research role. You’ll spend most of your time building features, designing systems, and improving our product. You will also contribute to AI initiatives by helping evaluate approaches, explore new ideas, and guide the team in how we use AI responsibly and effectively.
You’ll work with our modern tech stack, which includes:
- Back-end services in Kotlin with Spring Boot
- Web with Next.js and Vercel
- Native mobile apps in Swift and Kotlin
- GraphQL as our API layer
- Micro-service architecture
- Hosting on AWS, and to some extent in GCP
You don’t need to be an expert in all of these, but you should be comfortable navigating complex systems and learning new technologies when needed.
What about you?
You have strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of delivering high-quality software. You are knowledgeable about, and intrigued by, the new and fantastic capabilities that cutting edge AI can enable and have experience applying LLMs or other AI technologies in real projects, whether that’s integrating model APIs, designing prompt-driven features, or building evaluation or automation workflows.
We believe you’ll thrive here if you:
- Have 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Bring strong computer science fundamentals and a pragmatic approach to system design
- Have worked with AI/LLM-powered features or tools in a real product or engineering context
- Can help a team navigate ambiguity and explore AI opportunities without over-engineering
- Enjoy collaborating across functions to turn ideas into reliable product experiences
- Are motivated by solving real customer problems, with a focus on purposeful and impactful use of technology
- Are excited to contribute to a culture of learning, feedback, and continuous improvement
What about us?
