The position in brief

Do you want to be part of our data science journey? Data & AI at Lidl is a fast-growing part of the company, and support all parts of the business with tasks such as product recommendations, demand forecasting, AB-testing, assortment selection, pricing, and much more. We build our projects on a modern tech stack on Azure including Snowflake, Databricks, Docker and MLFlow.

Your role

As a multinational grocery company with data science divisions in 20+ countries with tight collaboration, Lidl is ideal for an aspiring data scientist since we work with huge amount of data in different format including time series data, geospatial data, hierarchical data and text data. We are revolutionising data driven decision making in the company which makes it the perfect place to see real world impact of data science.

We now open a new role as a Data Scientist. As a Data Scientist you would mainly work on independent projects with strong support from the team lead. Your tasks will include the whole chain of a data science project, from defining & aligning business needs, to understanding and processing the data, to training and calibrating your model, to visualize output for stakeholders, to putting the model in production. It is therefore important that you in addition to modelling also are interested in both software engineering and the overall business.

The work is of a hybrid setup, with two days a week in the office, and the rest is up to you. We practise agile development with CI/CD in the center and strive to automate all processes possible. We believe strongly in continuous learning & frequent feedback and use weekly pair programming to learn from each other. You will also get broad opportunities for development in line both with the role and within data science in general.

In your role you report to Lead Data Scientist.

Your profile

We believe that you within the last few years have graduated (or are graduating this spring) on a masters level in a field such as data science, machine learning, statistics, mathematics, computer science, optimization or similar. We also think that you have:

• Strong skills in Python including common DS packages such as Pandas & SKlearn
• Strong skills in SQL
• Excellent problem solving skills, business acumen and ability to creatively apply analytics to solve business needs
• Very good proficiency in English (Swedish is not required, but especially reading skills is beneficial)
